A message from our Chair of Governors

I am delighted to introduce myself as the new Chair of Governors at Fishwick Primary School. I would like to thank my predecessor, Wendy Duggleby, for her longstanding work for the school. It is an honour to take on this role, and I look forward to working closely with staff, parents, and students to ensure our school continues to thrive.

With a background in education, as a former teacher, I am passionate about providing every child with the best possible learning experience. As a governing body, we are committed to supporting the school’s leadership, upholding high standards, and ensuring that all students have access to a safe, inclusive, and enriching educational environment.

I am eager to hear from parents and the wider community, as collaboration is key to our success. Please feel free to reach out, share your thoughts, and get involved in shaping the future of our school.

I look forward to meeting many of you in the coming weeks and working together to continue to make Fishwick Primary an amazing place for our children to learn and grow.

Best regards, Catrin Parkinson Chair of Governors

We still currently have a vacancy for a parent governor.  This needs to be a parent connected to school so any of our parents or grandparents are eligible.  If you or anyone you know is interested, please contact Mrs Conway for more information.

Ramadan

As the holy month of Ramadan approaches, we would like to give our best wishes to all families observing this important time. To ensure we can best support our pupils during this period, we ask parents and carers to inform us if their child will be fasting.  This will allow us to make necessary arrangements to support them while at school.

For our younger pupils, particularly those below Year 5, we advise against fasting during school hours. We understand that fasting is a significant aspect of Ramadan, but we also want to ensure the health and energy levels of our younger children are maintained for their learning and development.

If you decide that your child will be fasting, please notify us in writing by Friday 28th February.

World Book Day

World Book Day this year is on Thursday 6th March 2025.  This year school will have a theme of Fairy Tales.  The children will be completing activities around different Fair Tales as well as creating their own versions.  We will be dressing up as book characters on Thursday 6th March 2025 – Fairy Tale characters are encouraged, but all are welcome.
