Safeguarding at Fishwick Primary School

Robust mechanisms are in place throughout school relating to Safeguarding. Child Protection procedures are followed carefully, in line with Keeping Children Safe in Education, September 2018  and the School’s Safeguarding & Child Protection Policy.

Our Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSLs) are Vicki Conway, Helena Garnham and Natalie Barton.

Pupils have a good understanding about being and feeling safe and understand that they are able to talk to adults in school at any time when worried about anything.

The Underwear Rule

Simple conversations really can help keep your child safe, and that’s what we will help you do. We want to help parents and carers talk to their children about staying safe. The Underwear Rule is just one way that – together – we can prevent child abuse.
We teach our pupils the NSPCC’s Underwear Rule using the ‘PANTS’ acrostic.
PANTS stands for:

  • Privates are private
  • Always remember your body belongs to you
  • No means no
  • Talk about secrets that upset you
  • Speak up, someone can help
